he
consulted historical texts agree on counting the Salucci House
among the Florentine ancient and noble ones, although its place
of origen seems to be Scarperia, in the area of Mugello. The most
ancient personage that is recalled is Berto, son of Saluccio,
who in 1327 held in Florence the charge of Prior, that his brother
Latone held in 1354 as well as other eight members of the House
between 1401 and 1510.
n
Florence the Saluccis also enjoyed the honor of being buried in
the most important town churches: this privilege was given only
to the nobles or to those who lived "more nobilium",
that is to say in the nobles' way. The last personage who is remembered
in Florence is the priest Giovanbattista, son of Luca, who died
in Rome in 1618. Since this epoch the Saluccis spread to the Abeuzzo
and Marche regions, in particular in Ascoli Piceno and at Fecmo:
in this town in 1823, Nitola Salucci, whose family was among those
that had "the badge of the primacy consulate and the best
rank of nobility", lived.
